Since 1979, this beloved community event has transformed the town into a hub of friendly competition and family fun.     Looking for something to do in Middle Georgia? Nature, culture, food, history, and shopping combine to make Peach County a sweet surprise.

    Get Outdoors

    Peach County’s rural nature leaves plenty of space for outdoor activities: hunting, fishing, golf, or just playing in the park. Peach County offers two beautiful parks: North Peach Park in Byron and South Peach Park in Fort Valley. These parks provide: picnic shelters, playgrounds, walking tracks, tennis courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, horse shoe pits, baseball/softball fields, football fields and soccer fields, as well as blueberries, pecans, and chestnuts for public picking and use. A Senior Citizens building is available at South Peach Park, while North Peach Park provides an indoor multi-purpose room with heat and air.

    With near perfect weather year round, golf is a 12-month sport on the numerous courses within 30 minutes of Peach County. The Peach County area is a true golfer's paradise.

    Peach County is within minutes of several Georgia wildlife management areas and public fishing areas. The Flat Creek Public Fishing Area is 10 miles south of Byron and has a boat ramp, bank access, picnic tables and restrooms on a 100-acre fishing lake with bass, bream and catfish. The Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge, located about 25 miles north of Byron, totals 35,000 acres and offers hunting, fishing and mile after mile of hiking trails. About 35 miles north of Byron are two Georgia state parks, High Falls and Indian Springs, both of which offer opportunities for fishing, camping, hiking, bird watching, swimming, and other activities.

  • Spend a Day at the Museum

    Two notable museums within minutes of Peach County are the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins and The Allman Brothers Museum at the Big House in Macon. The Museum of Aviation is the second largest Air Force museum in the U.S. and displays 93 historical aircraft, aviation memorabilia, and the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame. The Big House was once the home of members of The Allman Brothers Band and now houses the world’s largest collection of the band’s memorabilia.

    Music and the arts make life in Peach County even sweeter, and we welcome visitors to experience these activities as well. You’ll find performance arts practiced throughout the area.

    For those talented with a brush, the Jail House Alley Art Center is a group of artists in Fort Valley who provide an outlet for local talent and each fall hosts the annual Jail House Alley Art Show and Sale. (478) 929-2891

  • Walk in the Footsteps of Our Forebears

    Byron and Fort Valley both have a wealth of historic sites and structures that date back as far as 200 years ago, and walking/driving tour brochures are available for both cities. Architectural styles in Byron’s historic downtown include 1860s Georgian, 1890s New South, late 1800s-early 1900s Victorian, 1900s Neoclassical Revival, and early 1900s Greek Revival.

    Fort Valley historic homes were built between the 1860s and the 1950s. Fort Valley has two distinctive historic districts - The Everett Square District and the Downtown/Railroad District.

    Shopping in Peach County is anything but ordinary. Our locally owned gift shops, boutiques, and service businesses in Byron's and Fort Valley's historic downtowns will give you a chance to find unique treasures you are sure to cherish. You can get a sweet deal browsing the 33,000 sq ft Big Peach Antiques Mall in Byron, pick up some Georgia Grown foods and gifts at Lane Southern Orchards, or stop to sip and purchase local muscadine wines at Cane River Winery. Peach Shops of Byron is an oulet shopping center in Middle Georgia that offers anchor stores including VF Factory Outlet, Leggs Hanes Bali, Dress Barn and Bealls Outlet.
