Lane Southern Orchards

Lane Southern Orchards’ huge Roadside Market is filled with fresh local, seasonal produce – much of it from the family farm’s 3,000 acres of peach orchards, 3,000 acres of pecan groves and a special patch of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, apples, scuppernongs, muscadines and kiwi – gourmet treats, local wines and authentic souvenirs. You can even take a farm tour during the season.

Massee Lane Gardens

The sweet blossoms of one of the finest collections of camellias in the world – more than 1,000 varieties – fills nine acres in Fort Valley, Georgia. David C. Strother donated his private garden in 1966 to be the headquarters of the American Camellia Society. Today, you can stroll the brick walkways surrounding the camellia trees for easy viewing. Not camellia season? Come to visit the Abendroth Japanese Garden, the Scheibert Rose Garden, Avera-Peterson Children’s Garden, and beautiful plantings of daffodils, daylilies, chrysanthemums, azaleas, flowering trees, annuals and perennials.

Old Byron Jail Museum

Built around 1875, the old jail is now the headquarters building for the Byron Area Historical Society. It serves as a repository for society records and documents and houses historic pictures and memorabilia from Byron’s past. Although the jail is not regularly open, tours may be arranged.

Pearson Farm

Peaches are roadside market-fresh from this Georgia farm since the 1890s. For five generations, the Pearson Family has been growing peaches and pecans on the same land as their great-great grandparents. In fact, the Old Zenith School is where the peach packing is done, and during peach season, from mid-May through mid-August, walk-in customers are welcome at the packing house. In addition to fresh-from-the-farm peaches, Pearson Farm also sells delicious peach ice cream made from its own tree-ripened peaches so good it has been acclaimed in Southern Living Magazine. And come October, scoop up a bag of pecans from the Pearson pecan grove for your holiday baking.

Troutman House

See the 1855 Greek Revival-style Troutman House in Fort Valley, Georgia, now the Welcome Center for Peach County. The house originally sat several thousand yards southeast of its present location in a grove of trees surrounded by pasture land. The home has undergone an extensive renovation and now serves as home to the Fort Valley Downtown Development Authority and MainStreet, the Georgia Peach Festival, the Peach County Chamber of Commerce, the Welcome Center and the Peach County Development Authority.
